Highlighting Our 2020 MRFKC Champions - Adam Ali
The 2020 MRFKC season was a pretty memorable one for the Ali family! Daniel Ali wrapped up the ROK Junior title (and was in close contention for the Briggs Junior championship as well finishing runner-up), while older brother Adam took the top honours in the Briggs & Stratton Senior class after a solid season of wins and podiums in one of MRFKC’s most competitive classes. Adam is next up on our list as we recap our 2020 MRFKC Champions on the road to the new season that is approaching faster with each passing day!
Here’s what Adam had to say when we asked him a few questions:
Q: What was your favourite moment or memory from the MRFKC 2020 season?
Last season, my favourite memory was the feeling of winning the championship in my rookie season in Senior. I was told it's been over 2 decades since a driver has won their rookie season in Senior Briggs in an Ontario based championship. By far, that feeling was the best moment of not only this season but my entire racing career thus far.
Q: What are your plans for karting in 2021? (i.e. who will you be racing with, and what are you looking forward to the most?)
For 2021, I will obviously be staying with Racing Edge Motorsports and will be looking forward to not only racing in the MRFKC but also racing in the Coupe de Montréal this coming season to hopefully get my first championship in that series
Q: What are your personal or team goals for the 2021 season?
My personal goal for 2021 would be to try and get an overall podium or win in the ROK series and obviously try and win the Briggs title once again.
Q: On another note, as motorsport starts to ramp up around the world what series (F1, NASCAR, IMSA, IndyCar, WEC, etc.) are you most looking forward to watching and why?
I am very interested in watching the upcoming WEC and IMSA series this year. Being a big Porsche fan, I hope to see them winning this year in the GTE pro class. As well, I am very excited to see how the newly formed LMH class goes this year as Porsche and many other big names are soon to join the LMH and LMDH categories in both WEC and IMSA respectively in future seasons.
Q: Is there anything you would like to add or mention?
I want to give a special thanks to REM and specifically Derek Michaud. Without Derek, I don't think I would have ever gotten to this point. It truly shows how important coaches are to drivers and he really doesn't get enough recognition. Of course, I also have to thank my father who is always there for me and my brother. We wouldn't be racing if it wasn't for the time and effort my dad puts into the sport.
